There’s just something about a fall wedding in the mountains. The crisp air, the changing leaves, the cozy energy… it all feels a little magical. Mary and Tommy’s wedding at Ten Mile Station had all of that and more, including one very important wedding-day lesson: sometimes the unexpected pivot ends up being part of the magic.

Originally, the plan was for an outdoor ceremony overlooking the mountains, but Colorado weather had other ideas. Thankfully, Mary and Tommy had rented a tent through Tents and Events, and it absolutely saved the day. Instead of stressing, everyone leaned into the cozy atmosphere and the ceremony took place right inside the tent with the fall weather surrounding them outside. Honestly? It ended up feeling intimate, warm, and completely fitting for the day.

One of my favorite parts of this wedding was the chance to work alongside the photographer, whose own wedding I had the opportunity to plan three years earlier. (which goes went by in a blink! I literally thought it was the summer before) Getting to reconnect for such a special celebration felt incredibly full-circle and made the day even more meaningful. Her parents were also there so it was fun to reconnect with them too!

Those kinds of relationships are one of my favorite parts of this job.

Mary looked absolutely stunning after hair and makeup by The Chopping Block, and the florals by Petal and Bean perfectly complemented the rich fall tones and mountain setting. Every detail felt elevated while still staying relaxed and true to them.

After the ceremony, guests headed back inside Ten Mile Station for dinner and toasts before the party moved back under the tent for dancing. This is where the night really took off. Elite DJ kept the energy high all night long, and later in the evening a saxophone player joined in, which completely transformed the dance floor into the kind of party nobody wanted to leave.

Guests also spent the evening piling into the photo booth from Shutterbus, which was such a fun addition and gave everyone another way to capture memories from the night.

And speaking of memories, Tales of Voyage captured the day beautifully. From the emotional moments during the ceremony to the packed dance floor under the tent lights, every photo perfectly tells the story of the day as it unfolded.

Of course, no wedding is complete without dessert, and the cake from Cornerstone was the perfect finishing touch to the evening.

Mary and Tommy’s wedding was such a good reminder that weddings don’t have to go exactly according to plan to be incredible. Sometimes the weather shifts, timelines pivot, and you end up celebrating in a completely different way than you imagined. But when you’re surrounded by great people and willing to embrace the moment, it somehow turns into exactly what it was supposed to be.
