Mary Catherine & Sean. What can I say about these two except that they are awesome! I worked with Mary Catherine (or MC as I came to know her as :) for just over a year. I have to say...I wish it was longer! We would always start off our calls with catching up on our personal lives and then we would dig into wedding planning. Some clients just become friends after spending so much time together and Mary Catherine is one of those people. Then during their venue tour at their wedding venue the Silverthorne Pavilion, I met Sean her fiance. It all made sense then. They are perfect for each other. You can tell that they just have fun together. Makes my wedding planner heart so happy to see couples like this!
Mary Catherine and Sean decided on a New Year's Eve wedding. Such a magical time of year here in the mountains! They had their fair share of challenges during the planning process. Of course the time of year is not one of the most expensive times of the year but THEE most expensive time of the year here in the high country. Mary Catherine took all of my advice with vendors and how to book. The result? She and Sean were able to have their fairy tale winter wedding without breaking the bank. It can be done! Next was the dreaded c word. Yes Covid. By the end of 2021 we thought this whole mess would be a distant memory. Instead, Omicron was just coming into the picture and cases were rising. Mary Catherine and Sean took no chances and required all their guests to not only mask up but to also test before entering. Looking back at it now it was hilarious watching as people were arriving at the rehearsal, they were handed a welcome bag and a test. They wanted to have fun but also be safe. I really hesitate about writing about this but I think writing about everything as unicorns and butterflies just isn't realistic during these times. Our couples (and we as wedding planners) have been through and dealt with so much. It needs to be documented that we are resilient and can overcome any obstacle.
Now on to the unicorns and butterflies! :) Mary Catherine started her day with her ladies, some pampering and hair and makeup being done by Weemala. Love that hair and makeup company because they will actually come to you which means you can hang out in your jammies basically all morning. No need to go anywhere! After an epic first look on the bridge outside of Silverthorne Pavilion, Mary Catherine and Sean said their I'do's at the Catholic Church in Silverthorne, Colorado Our Lady of Peace. But can we talk about that first look for a moment? When my couples are debating about a first look, I really just want to send them a photo of Sean's reaction to seeing his bride for the first time. Not his girlfriend or his fiance but his bride. Simply the cutest thing ever.
After the ceremony guests moved to the Silverthorne Pavilion for appetizers and cocktails. It's a good thing the church and the venue are so close because the snow was really picking up by this point. That didn't keep Mary Catherine and Sean from playing in it on the way to the Pavilion. Have I mentioned I love these two?? Once cocktail hour was finished, guests were asked to move into the reception space where Alicia from Magnolia Grace Designs really hit it out of the park with the poinsettia, black and white vibe. Dinner was served by Black Diamond Gourmet. Mary Catherine and Sean chose a menu that was approachable and delicious for this snowy night. Jay from Standing Room Only kept everyone dancing and having a ball. It was such an amazing night. Please check out the photos below shot by the talented Samantha Immer Photography.
Finally, did I mention it snowed? Holy smokes did it snow. Of course you expect that being a winter mountain wedding but man, our snow dances worked!
