"Before hiring a wedding planner, we asked around for recommendations. We only received one name from three different people - Elizabeth (Ebs) Long at Distinctive Mountain Events. She completely lived up to the hype! After carefully listening to the bride and groom’s somewhat unique request to ski in our wedding attire after the ceremony, Ebs was quick to narrow down the venue options. She helped with transportation for the wedding party to ski and board, as well as referred us to the best photographers, DJs, and florists, keeping our budget in mind. She suggested the best places to shop for wedding attire, as well as provided discount codes for attire and transportation. She advocated with the vendors for us, often getting additional services for low to no cost. We were nicely nudged on checklists when needed, which was important as the wedding was planned in less than 6 months! Ebs detailed timeline for the wedding weekend was invaluable. She kept the rehearsal moving the night before, negotiated with the venue for additional time in the bridal suite, fixed an issue with the food and drink during the event, and, most importantly, kept the bride and groom calm and happy! While controlling the weather was not in her job description, Ebs saved the day when terrible winter weather arrived. On the January weekend, Breckenridge received 3-4 feet of snow, preceded by an arctic blast of cold temps (-20 degrees) and powerful winds (40 mph). The evening before the wedding, the mountain pass from Denver closed, meaning the groomsmen missed the rehearsal but arrived safely later that night. On the wedding day, as pictures were starting, Ebs calmly informed us that all ski areas had closed due to high winds. Chairlifts were not running. After consulting with local experts, she quickly came up with a back-up plan. Ebs worked with the shuttle drivers to drop the skiers off on a run that does not need to be accessed by a chairlift – the ski home run at the end of the day. The bride said snowboarding in a wedding dress was easy and it was an added benefit that we were the only ones on the mountain given it was closed. The wedding was spectacular, despite the crazy weather. A giant thanks to Ebs for the amazing memories!" ~ MOB

Kallie and Jack’s love story is rooted in the mountains, so it was only fitting that they celebrated their wedding day at The Lodge at Breckenridge. With sweeping views and a cozy alpine feel, it was the perfect backdrop for their winter celebration.

This couple shares a love of adventure—Jack is an avid skier, while Kallie shines on her snowboard. From the very beginning of planning, one non-negotiable stood out: they wanted to hit the slopes right after saying “I do.”

Mother Nature had other plans that day, delivering extreme cold and high winds that actually shut down all the Breckenridge lifts. But if there’s one thing we know about mountain lovers, it’s that nothing can keep them from adventure! With a little determination (and a lot of laughter), Kallie and Jack and a lot of their wedding guests still managed to make their post-ceremony ski dreams come true.

That morning began with Kallie getting ready with Weemala, who created the most beautiful winter-glam hair and makeup look—flawless even in the crisp mountain air. Denali Media was there to capture every moment, from the cozy getting-ready details to the triumphant ski runs later in the day.

At the reception, Brett Lomoro kept the dance floor packed all night long, creating the perfect mix of high-energy songs and sweet moments. The florals from Garden of Eden brought a soft, romantic touch to the mountain lodge setting, with arrangements that popped beautifully against the snowy backdrop. And thanks to Epic Mountain Express, guests were able to travel safely and comfortably up to the lodge despite the wintery weather.

It was a day that reflected exactly who Kallie and Jack are as a couple—fun-loving, adventurous, and ready to face life’s wild weather together.
